Clinical Observation on Bladder Tumor

Abstract
"A clinical observation was made on the bladder tumor of the in-patients in the Department of Urology, Seoul National University Hospital during the period from July, 1967 to June, 1972 0f 1,631 of total admitted cases, 137 cases had bladder tumor including readmited cases due to recurrence, giving a rate of 8.4%.,Actual number of patients were 93 of which 78 patients could be studied. And the following results were obtained: 1. The sex ratio was 3.3:1 with male 60 and female 18 2. Age distribution showed the highest incidence between 40 and 69 year with 3/4 of patients 3. Of symptoms, hematuria was the most common as 96.2% and then frequency 43.5%, dysuria 35.8%in order 4. Sixty-two % of patients visited to our clinic within one year after initial symptoms occurred. 5. The tumors located on lateral and posterior wall chiefly as 60.1%. And solitary cases were 3Iightly more than multiple cases. 6. Among 75 cases, patho1ogical diagnosis was made on 56 cases, transitional cell carcinoma observed on 53 cases, squamous cell carcinoma 1, adenocarcinoma 1 and metastatic carcinoma 1 respectively. 7. As the method of treatment, TUR was performed 33 times, eletrocoagulation through suprapubic cystotomy 23, urinary diversion 15, total cystectomy 8 and segmental resction 6 in order. 8. Twenty-four patients readmitted because of recurrence after first treatment. 87% of those patients recurred within 1 year, 8 patients died within 5 years."
